On March 14, the VII Global Baku forum on "New foreign policy of the world" began its work in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres addressed the participants with a message. He recalled the acute problems of our time and called for mobilizing efforts to hold the rapid global warming on the planet. The head of the UN spoke about the upcoming Climate summit and called for its support.

"Our world faces a paradox: problems are increasingly interconnected, and responses to them are fragmented. Today, more than ever, we need a multilateral approach to addressing environmental threats and armed conflicts, reducing growing inequalities and eliminating intolerance," - said the UN-Chief.

He called for solutions that could respond to the aspirations of the people and lead to fair globalization and development for all. "This is exactly what the United Nations wants to do every day. At the same time, we act in many areas - from peacekeeping efforts to humanitarian assistance; from the protection of human rights to the promotion of sustainable development," - noted the Secretary - General in his message.

The UN head warned the participants of the Forum in Baku that one impending threat could destroy all achievements and this threat is climate change. "Climate change is happening much faster than our attempts to slow it down. I am convening a Climate Summit in September in New York [ ... ] and count on your support [ ... ], " -  said Antonio Guterres.

He believes that cooperation with other multilateral institutions, regional organizations, civil society and private sector is essential for solving contemporary problems. The head of the UN welcomed the commitment of the Forum's participants to dialogue and wished them a productive work.
