Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations - Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Europe is visiting Belarus

Marek Belka, Under–Secretary–General of the United Nations – Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE), will visit the Republicof Belaruson 22–23 May 2008 at the invitation of Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky.

Marek Belka, Under–Secretary–General of the United Nations – Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE), will visit the Republicof Belaruson 22–23 May 2008 at the invitation of Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky.

The main goal of the UNECE Executive Secretary visit to Minskis to hold negotiations with the Government of Belarus on strengthening of bilateral cooperation, and to participate in the session of the CIS Council of Heads of Governments.

The programme of the visit of Mr. Belka to Belarusincludes his meetings with top–level officials of the Government of Belarus, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Energy, State Committee for Science and Technology.

On 23 May, Mr. Belka will take part in the session of the CIS Council of Heads of Governments to deliver a statement on the UNECE contribution to the elaboration and implementation of the CIS economic development strategy.
