The International Organization for Migration (IOM), Mission in Belarus announces a call for scientific research proposals studying the issue of human trafficking within the framework of the international technical assistance project “Combating Trafficking in Human Beings: Republic of Belarus”.

The aim of the research is to study particular aspects of the human trafficking phenomenon, raise public awareness of the stated problem, and formulate recommendations on addressing actual challenges within the specified sphere.    

The applications should be submitted to any of the below mentioned topics:

  1. Trafficking in Human Beings for the Purpose of Child Pornography.
  2. Demand for Sexual Services: Clients’ Responsibility.
  3. Labour Exploitation.

Interested parties, scientific research teams, and organizations are invited to submit their applications for conducting the research.  The deadline for the submission of applications is April 16, 2010.  There is no particular template for the application.  It should contain brief description of the research methodology, the budget and detailed information about the applicant.  It should not exceed three pages (Times New Roman, 12) including the annexes (the budget and applicant information). 

The selection committee will choose three best research proposals for carrying out scientific researches, and the authors of the applications will be provided financial support to conduct the alleged researches.  The budget of each research should not exceed the total of 6000 Euro.  

Requirements

The research papers on the corresponding topics should include main goal, aims and methods of information collection and processing, as well as envisaged results of the research and prospective research duration.  The research paper may include comparative analysis of the national and international legislation systems, possible solutions to the issue of human trafficking in the chosen area of interest and actual recommendations on addressing the challenges of the phenomenon.

Individuals and scientific research teams with previous extensive experience in this sphere are encouraged to apply.
