The UN Resident Coordinator Antonius Broek, Head of the OSCE Office Benedict Haller and Chairman of the Belarusian Children’s Fund Alexander Trukhan participated at the opening ceremony and spoke on behalf of their respected organizations.

“Determination in reaffirming “faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women” was the drive and incentive of the fathers and mothers of the United Nations Charter, 65 years ago”, said Antonius Broek addressing guests of the film festival.

Two thematic exhibitions “Children of War: Broken Childhood” and portraits of Belarusian children were organized in the lobby of the cinema.

The DPI–sponsored exhibit was produced in cooperation with the Office of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary–General for Children and Armed Conflict. It is based on a selection of pictures from international war photographers and depicts child soldiers and children victims of war. The right of a child is one of the most important human rights and is the responsibility of each member of society.
