Gala concert began with a video message of Angelina Jolie, UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. She encouraged everyone to do at least one thing that can help people, who have been forced to leave their home, to find hope for the future. Sholeh Safavi, UNHCR Representative in Belarus, said kind words to the participants of the contest of children’s art works, performers and guests, who found the time to visit the concert and thus pay tribute to those who by virtue of circumstances had to leave their home. The concert program continued with performance not only Belarusian children, but also with the Afghan and the Georgian ensembles, which have submitted their national culture through songs and dances.

The event was held in one breath, all the guests were all captured by the warm atmosphere of a holiday and wanted to keep this sense of calm and joy.

On June 18 weekend activity, devoted to the World Refugee Day which is celebrated on June 20, took place in the Central Children Park named after M. Gorky. Children fascinated visitors of the park by theirs dances and songs, a large number of spectators gathered near the scene they applauded and supported young artists. Near the stage stood UNHCR booth with materials about the UNHCR projects in Belarus, information booklets on the issue of refugees and asylum seekers, on statelessness and tolerance, as well as information for refugees themselves.
