Belarusian students support the goals of the International Year of Water Cooperation

Summarizing of open regional competition of student research works dedicated to the International Year of Water Cooperation was held in Brest on April 26. Winners and all attendees were congratulated by the chairman of the jury, Deputy Chief of the Department of Education Irina Chovzhik and Officer–in–Charge of the Department of Public Information of the United Nations in Belarus Victor Radivinovski.

Summarizing of open regional competition of student research works dedicated to the International Year of Water Cooperation was held in Brest on April 26.

Winners and all attendees were congratulated by the chairman of the jury, Deputy Chief of the Department of Education Irina Chovzhik and Officer–in–Charge of the Department of Public Information of the United Nations in Belarus Victor Radivinovski.

"Importance of cooperation in the world water resources management is obvious and difficult to overestimate, as transboundary water resources are not limited by the usual political boundaries. Neither does water pollution recognize borders. Ensuring further sustainable development of the planet and our future will depend on addressing the issue of effective water resources management"–said Victor Radivinovski in his address at the ceremony.

More than 60 works from 76 students of educational institutions of all districts of the Brest region were submitted for the contest. 21 contest winners were awarded Diplomas of the Education Department of the Brest region and given souvenirs from the UN. On this day 25 fifth graders joined the "Young Friends of the United Nations" club.
