On May 3, 2013 Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, met with Mr.Sanaka Samarasinha, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative. The discussion has focused on the implementation of the United Nations Development Framework Programme (UNDAF) for Belarus for 2011–2015, which essentially brings in one large document the activities of all UN agencies operating in Belarus. The parties have exchanged views on the recently accomplished UNDAF’s mid–term review and shared the point about the need to proceed proactively together in an effort to mobilize donor resources for the Programme’s implementation.

The parties have exchanged views on the recently accomplished UNDAF’s mid–term review and shared the point about the need to proceed proactively together in an effort to mobilize donor resources for the Programme’s implementation.

Among other issues, they also discussed the Minister’s forthcoming meeting with the UN Secretary–General in New York in the framework of the UN General Assembly’s High–Level Meeting devoted to the appraisal of the UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons (13 May 2013), the upcoming regional conference on the topic of middle–income countries in the context of sustainable development (16–17 May 2013, Minsk), as well as the process of national consultations on the UN post–2015 development agenda that has been completed in Belarus in April 2013.

The parties agreed to continue working closely together on all the above issues.
