On February 14, the UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative to Belarus Sanaka Samarasinha had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei. During the meeting the UN Resident Coordinator reiterated UN system’s interntion to support implementation of the Universal Periodic Review and treaty body recommendations with special focus on rights of people with disabilities, gender issue, addressing domestic violence. It was proposed to have a round of thematic consultations on the implementation of the specific recommendations.

During the meeting the UN Resident Coordinator reiterated UN system’s interntion to support implementation of the Universal Periodic Review and treaty body recommendations with special focus on rights of people with disabilities, gender issue, addressing domestic violence. It was proposed to have a round of thematic consultations on the implementation of the specific recommendations.

Among other issues the parties discussed the forthcoming visit of the UNDP Administrator Helen Clark to Belarus in May 2014, implementation of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for Belarus for 2011 – 2015, as well as perspectives of preparation of the new UNDAF for the period 2016 – 2020, establishment of the UN House in Belarus and upcoming donor conference to be held in Minsk.

The parties confirmed the high level of cooperation between the United Nations organizations present in Belarus and the Belarusian Government and agreed to continue implementation of mutual projects and conducting dialogue on various issues of common interest.
