Students of the Belarus State University Met with the Representatives of the UN Office in Belarus

Ahead of United Nations Day, which is celebrated annually on October 24, the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Belarus organized a series of meetings at the Faculty of International Relations at Belarus State University, in order to better inform students about the activities of the United Nations.

On 9 October, Viktor Radivinovski, the Head of the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) in Belarus, Alexander Vlaskin, Public Relations Specialist at the Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Velikorodnov, Programme Officer at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Republic of Belarus, and Maria Nekrashevich, Assistant to the Project Coordinator of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) in the Republic of Belarus, met students in their third year of study for a degree in International Relations, with a specialization in International Organizations. Each of the guests introduced the students to the work and activities of the agencies they represent.

On October 10, UN Resident Coordinator / UNDP Resident Representative / Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Belarus Sanaka Samarasinha visited the Faculty of International Relations at Belarus State University.

In his address to students, Sanaka Samarasinha spoke about the current projects and prospects of the United Nations, strengthening the role of women, and international law. He also drew attention to the opportunities available to young people to cooperate with the UN. During the meeting, members of the UN staff in Belarus organized an interactive quiz on knowledge of the United Nations. Students who gave the most accurate answers received souvenirs. At the end of the meeting, the students had a fantastic opportunity to ask the UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus a variety of questions related to the United Nations
