Council of Europe, United Nations in Belarus, Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law announce student essay competition. Goal of competition: promotion of knowledge and understanding of principles of respect and protection of human rights by the Belarusian youth.

STUDENT ESSAY COMPETITION
Goal of competition: promotion of knowledge and understanding of principles of respect and protection of human rights by the Belarusian youth.
Time: 16 October — 16 November2014.
Participants: students and master students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus.

- Youth rights
- Rights of migrants
- Gender equality
Participants of competition should formulate a specific problem within mentioned above themes that, in their understanding, exists in Belarus, and also offer ways and methods of resolving the problem. Each essay should consist of 2 parts: a) 1–2 pages describing the problem, b) up to 3 pages describing ways and methods of resolving the problem. Competition participants can submit essays in any nominations at the same time.
Filename should include nomination and surname of the author (e.g. for nomination “Rights of Persons with Disabilities” – Rights of Persons with Disabilities _Ivanova; for nomination “Youth Rights” – Youth Rights_Ivanova; for nomination “Rights of Migrants” – Rights of Migrants_Ivanova; for nomination “Gender Equality” – Gender Equality_Ivanova;). Email with essay attached should have similar title.
Winners of the 3 first places in each nomination will receive prizes and diplomas of the Council of Europe, the United Nations in Belarus and Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.
Awarding ceremony is planned on the Human Rights Day, December 10, 2014 in Minsk.
