The Rector of the International University "MITSO" S. Knyazev, Officer–in–Charge of the UN Department of Public Information in Belarus V. Radivinovski and Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Justice of Belarus A. Aleshin have addressed the participants of the conference.

"2015 is significant for both the international community, and for Belarus. These days, 70 years ago, a historic founding conference to establish a new international organization was taking place in San Francisco, the foundations for future international peace and security were being laid. On 26 June 1945, Belarus as the 51st founding state signed the United Nations Charter. 2015 is an important year also because this year humanity sums up the results of implementation of the eight Millennium Development Goals formulated in the Millennium Declaration, and defines new sustainable development goals," said in his speech Viktor Radivinovski.

The conference of young scholars has been attended by doctoral and MA students of Belarusian universities as well as representatives of the United Nations Children's Fund, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the United Nations Population Fund.

In their presentations in the sections "Promotion of Progressive Economic Growth and Sustainable Development After 2015," "Humanitarian Dimension of Development" and "The UN Role in Establishment of a New Humanitarian Order" the conference participants discussed contemporary issues of green economy and legal protection of wetlands in the context of sustainable development, social aspects of migration and adaptation of refugees, the right to the Internet in the context of the individual's right to information, the right of peoples to self–determination and sustainable development, and many other issues.

The conference included awarding the winners of the Essay Contest "70 years of the United Nations, 1945–2015. My World: Sustainable Development Agenda Beyond 2015" organized by the UN and the International University "MITSO" in February and March 2015 for Belarusian school and university students.

Students were invited to write "1,000 Words for Protection of Forests, Rivers and Oceans," "1,000 Words for Protection from Discrimination and Harassment," and "1,000 Words for the Right to Information."

Explaining the choice of a theme for her essay, the winner of the contest from Pinsk Natalia Bazan said that her choice was due to the fact that her family had been affected by the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and for her the choice of the environmental issues to write on had been obvious. "It depends on our responsibility and care, what planet the future generations will inherit," — said the winner of the contest.

All the winners and laureates in the three categories received prizes from the United Nations in Belarus and the International University "MITSO". The student of the Lyceum №1 of Minsk Olga Khmel has won a grand prize, the free–of–charge training at the International University "MITSO" in 2015/2016 academic year.
