Media Briefing Devoted to UN Sustainable Development Summit and UN70 Express for SDGs

On September 25 the United Nations in Belarus hosted a media briefing devoted to the opening of the UN Sustainable Development Summit and the United Nations’ initiative "UN70 Belarus Express for SDGs" to be launched in Belarus. Talking to journalists, UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus Sanaka Samarasinha noted that achieving sustainable development goals is not possible without partnerships.

On September 25 the United Nations in Belarus hosted a media briefing devoted to the opening of the UN Sustainable Development Summit and the United Nations’ initiative "UN70 Belarus Express for SDGs" to be launched in Belarus.

Talking to reporters, UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus Sanaka Samarasinha noted that achieving sustainable development goals is not possible without partnerships.

"It is incredibly important that there active meaningful partnership between government, private sector, civil society, international organizations, like United Nations and peoples themselves", — said Mr. Samarasinha.

Over 150 heads of state and government are participating in the UN Sustainable Development Summit at UN headquarters in New York to formally adopt the outcome document of the new sustainable development agenda.

In its turn, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of founding of the United Nations UN agencies in Belarus supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus are holding a number of awareness–raising events to be finalized with the initiative "UN70 Belarus Express for SDGs".

Celebration of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations will bring a special train with senior officials of the UN, government, diplomatic missions, NGOs and youth organizations on board October 23–30 to visit all the regional cities of Belarus.

Each regional center on the train’s route will host cultural, sports and educational events, and exhibitions to be jointly held by the UN and partner NGOs.
