UN70 Belarus Express Visits Brest Region

In the morning, October 26, Brest State University named after Pushkin hosted a two–day Republican Scientific and Practical Workshop "UN 70th Anniversary and Ways of Further Strengthening Cooperation between Nations" attended by representatives of the International Society for Human Rights, UN, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, non–governmental organizations, higher educational institutions and mass media in Belarus.

The City Youth Center hosted photo exhibitions on responsible parenthood and activities of the Third Age University, a presentation of the applications for education, career–guidance master classes for teens and a number of other events.

Representatives of the United Nations Children's Fund in Belarus reported during the day there was a joint hearing of the City’s Council of Deputies and the Youth Parliament of Brest. This time they discussed education and youth civic engagement. Secondary schools No. 1 and 14 hosted trainings and master classes on full inclusion and rehabilitation of people with disabilities, ways to combat human trafficking and promote gender equality.

Over 150 UN staff members, representatives of Belarusian Government, civil society, private sector, diplomatic missions and a plentiful of partners October 23 on the eve of the UN 70th Anniversary went on a journey around the regions of Belarus by special train.

This joint initiative "UN70 Belarus Express for SDGs" became possible through a partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UN agencies in Belarus and partners. A train is helping to spread the word about the new Sustainable Development Goals and post–2015 Development Agenda and promote engagement of partners and beneficiaries to discuss Belarus development priorities.
