Vladimir Makei, Foreign Minister of Belarus visited the UN Resident Coordinator's Office and UNDP office in Belarus at Kirova str.,17 on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of UNDP globally. This is the first visit of a Belarus Foreign Minister in his capacity. After a small excursion around the premises and discussion about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the upcoming 30th Anniversary of Chernobyl to which UNDP Administrator is expected to arrive in Minsk.

With Belarus set to ratify the Convention on the rights of people with disabilities this year, the Minister commended UNDP Belarus for retrofitting the office to make it completely barrier free. The Minister thanked the staff for their continuing work to help the people of Belarus. He noted that the UN 70 Express in Belarus for SDGs "was a fantastic idea" and it helped the people around the country understand that the UN is working in Belarus to address their every day concerns and challenges.
