On June 15, on the threshold of the 2nd European Games, the team of the United Nations in Belarus and its partners conducted a bike ride in support of equal rights and opportunities, environmental protection, and healthy lifestyle.

UN BRIGHT TEAM BIKE RIDE rus The participants took a ride from Loshitsa Park to Victory Park.

Representatives of United Nations agencies, the diplomatic corps, non-governmental organizations, and business community took part in the “bright” bike ride.

To crown it all, a mini-festival was hold in Victory Park, where the participants and everyone interested were able to learn about organic farmers’ production, drink coffee provided by the Inclusive Barista project, play educational games, and spend a pleasant sunny weekend in the city park.

For the duration of the festival, a children’s playground was provided with fascinating workshops dedicated to Sustainable Development Goals.

Loshitsa Park is a landmark for Belarus and the United Nations. United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration worked in the building of the Loshitsa Manor memorial house in 1946-1947, due to which Belarus received aid in the amount of USD 61 million.

In 2015, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, the Tree of Peace and Sustainable Development was planted near the memorial house and the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2016-2020 was signed.

The Foundation “Directorate of the 2nd European Games 2019”, the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the Joint UN Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) signed the memoranda of understanding and cooperation, which allows to add the issues of inclusion, non-discrimination, and the philosophy of “Leave No One Behind” into the European Games agenda.
