Traditionally, the event is devoted to recalling global environmental issues: climate change and depletion of natural resources. By turning off the lights and electrical appliances at homes and offices for 60 minutes, we demonstrate our concern for these problems and together take care of the climate on our planet, in our country and in our homes.
The main idea of the campaign lies in turning off the lights and unnecessary electrical appliances at home or in the office for one hour from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on March 30 and trying to turn careful use of natural resources into an everyday habit.
In Minsk, the illumination of Independence and Victory Avenues, lights of the National Library, illumination of shopping centers buildings, universities and cafes will be switched off for one hour.
Today, Earth Hour is the most massive environmental campaign on the planet with more than 2 billion people around the world in 188 countries taking part in it, and more than 18,000 architectural monuments being dimmed. By turning off the lights, millions of people demonstrate they are not indifferent to the dangerous effects of climate change.
