Mahilioŭ hosted the first meeting of the regional working group on sustainable development of the Mogilev region.
In addition to the members of the working group, the event was attended by Kononchuk T.P. the chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Ecology, Nature Management and the Chernobyl Catastrophe, representatives of the United Nations Development Program in Belarus, the German Federal Government, the International Fund for Rural Territories, Research Economic Institute of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, as well as deputy chairpersons of the district executive committee.
Natalya Minchenko, Project Manager of UNDP "Support to the National Coordinator on Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals and Strengthening the Role of the Parliament in the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals” project presented information on international approaches to the formation of an agenda for sustainable development for the period up to 2030, and achievements of Belarus in its implementation and plans of the United Nations Development Program in continuing to support the country's efforts in realizing global goals.
Successful practices of implementing the principles of sustainable development at the local and regional levels were presented by Dmitry Karpievich, Coordinator of the Belarus Support Program of the Federal Government of Germany (for sustainable development).
Practical steps to implement the principles of sustainable development at the regional level were presented by Sergey Tarasyuk, the director of the International Fund for the Development of Rural Territories and Andrei Verkhovodkin, the deputy chairman of the Chausy regional executive committee.
