Alexander Patlis Keeps the Promise
15 October 2007 - Belarus’ Star Team for fighting AIDS continues to do its best to keep the promises made in support of the global campaign “Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise”.
The singer Alexander Patlis is one of the Star Team members. His promise was to help HIV-positive children. The proceeds gained from the last concert under the “Pure Heart” project inspired and organized by Alexander Patlis will partially go to help HIV-positive children.
The concert of the “Pure Heart” project with participation of Alexander Patlis (Belarus) and Denny Platt (Germany) was performed on October 12 in Minsk. The audience had a chance to express their attitude to AIDS with the help of SMS-messages, which were shown on the screen behind the stage. Those who sent the most successful messages were awarded with leaflets featuring the Star Team, T-shirts and bags with symbols of the campaign “Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise”.
“Sometimes we cannot understand why we are put on the test,” said Alexander Patlis from the stage. “Maybe we should display our best merits?”
The “Pure Heart” project was launched in autumn 2006. Concerts were successfully performed in seven Belarusian towns and cities. All proceeds were directed for charity needs. In particular, the musicians provided financial support for a New Life rehabilitation center in Baranovichi, transferred money for purchasing medicines and operating children with cardiovascular diseases in Brest, and presented a link trail, an exercise bicycle, a musical mini system, and a DVD-player to inmates of a children’s social placement center in Orsha.
For reference: The Star Team composed of famous Belarusian musicians, TV anchorpersons, sportsmen and actors was created in summer 2007 under the project “Prevention and Treatment of HIV/AIDS in the Republic of Belarus”, which has been implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Health and funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
