Project Objective & Brief Description: |
The Project was aimed at alleviating social tensions resulting from enterprise restructuring, including the pressures of rising unemployment, especially in one-factory-towns. To this end, the project facilitated social dialogue and help elaborate a joint programme of action involving national stakeholders such as national and local governments, employment services, enterprise administrations and personnel, business associations, and small business support institutions. The Project was piloted in one core enterprise in a small town. Options were explored to apply the ILO socially responsible restructuring methodology, ensuring better prevention of severe unemployment and poverty. Contingency planning reflected the concerns of enterprise employees and families, the most vulnerable group of stakeholders. |
